How do you build a system that aligns skills with real labor-market needs? In Albania, this challenge is being met through the creation of Sector Skills Committees (SSCs) — collaborative platforms that bring together employers, training providers, and institutions to shape vocational and educational standards. In this FoBBIZ Talk, Ermira Shyti, Labor Market Advisor and Ex-Team Leader for Skills, Career Guidance and Intermediation at the Helvetas Albania youth employment project supported by SDC, will share how her team helped pilot the very first SSC in the ICT sector, and how this model took root under the leadership of the National Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Qualifications.
Ermira reflected on what it took to establish a functioning committee, how the approach was sustained even after project support ended, and how the tourism SSC was successfully formed and has been operating for two years.
