FoBBIZ Talk: Promotion of TVET in Bhutan with a focus on wood technology

How can a small Himalayan nation strengthen its future through skilled craftsmanship? In Bhutan, a new initiative is transforming technical and vocational education, with a special focus on wood technology — combining traditional expertise with modern innovation.
In this FoBBIZ Talk, Professor Markus Schär, Head of Global Engagement at the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH), will share insights on the promotion of technical and vocational education in Bhutan.

As part of a collaboration between Bhutan’s Ministry of Education and Skill Development, BFH, and the Centre for Sustainable Development and Cooperation (CDC), this partnership supports the creation of high-quality, relevant training programs in wood technology. The work centers on the Chumey Technical Training Institute in Jakar, where a state-of-the-art training factory is being developed to foster local talent and sustainable industry growth.
