Promoting basic skills for socio-economically disadvantaged young people and adults

In Switzerland, compulsory basic education ensures the development of basic skills such as literacy, numeracy and digital numeracy, which are prerequisites for any professional education and training.

In developing countries, many children and youth miss entire years of basic education. Therefore, once they become adults, they often do not have the minimum required mastery of such skills, which compromises their chances for a fulfilled life with financial autonomy. The situation is even worse for socio-economically disadvantaged people : people living in rural areas, people with disabilities, women with many children, people with precarious status, etc. Promoting the right to acquire basic skills for them is not an easy task. The coming Online RECI Open Space (OROS) aims to introduce the topic in an informed way and encourage open exchange between the participants.

Join our interactive webinar on 24 August from 3pm to 5pm to discuss and find solutions to promote basic skills for socio-economically disadvantaged young people and adults who missed out on basic education.

This event is organised in cooperation with the RECI working group on Adult Education. It will be held in English (with French subtitles).

Please find more information directly on the RECI web page.
